Origins

A success achieved in stages
1972

Grupo 8, a private security, surveillance and electronic prevention services company, begins operations in December 1972, providing Static Security and Roving Patrol services.

1975

Expands its activity into the marketing of security systems in the Electronic Security field.

1980

Obtains Public Works Contractor Certificate No. 10201 – EOP (5th category), issued by INCI. Begins the Cash and Valuables Transport activity. In 1980, the Porto branch is also created, in response to the strong growth of business in the North of the country.

1999

Holds licenses No. 5-A, No. 5-B, No. 5-C and No. 5-E.

2001

Obtains license No. 5-D.

2003

Authorization No. 45/2003 of 06/02/2003, issued by the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).

Certifications
Satisfaction as a guarantee

We have implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) – based on the principles of our company’s Policy, Mission and Values – whose goal is client satisfaction and loyalty.

  • At the end of 1999 we began implementing the Quality Assurance System in accordance with the NP EN ISO 9002 Standard and obtaining its certification
  • In November 2002 we obtained certification of the Quality Management System, applicable to all Services provided, and are currently certified by EIC – International Certification Company (in accordance with the ISO 9001 Standard).
  • In 2010 we began implementing environmental management best practices across all our services – in accordance with the ISO 14001 Standard –, culminating in certification of the Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System.
  • In 2014 we implemented the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Social Responsibility (SR) Management System, in accordance with the OHSAS 18001 and NP 4469-1 Standards, integrated with the current Quality and Environment system. Our goal is to guarantee good OHS and SR performance through effective control of identified risks.
  • In March 2015 we obtained certification of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Social Responsibility (SR) Management System, applicable to all Services provided, currently certified by EIC – International Certification Company.
  • The certifications obtained and mentioned above cover the following Grupo 8 Security Services:
  • Human Surveillance, Roving Patrols;
  • Transport, Custody, Handling and Distribution of Funds and Valuables;
  • ATM Management and Replenishment;
  • Operation and Management of Alarm Reception and Monitoring Centers;
  • Security Studies;
  • Operation, Management, Installation, Support and Maintenance of Electronic Security Systems;
  • Installation and Management of Fire Detection and Suppression Systems.

Values and Principles
Values and Principles

In compliance with the provisions of NP 4469, our values govern our company’s conduct internally and externally, as follows:

Grupo 8’s Social Responsibility PRINCIPLES, as set out in the NP 4469 certification framework, are as follows:

  • Compliance with the general and specific legislation applicable to Grupo 8’s activities, including collective labor regulation instruments;
  • Respect for internationally recognized conventions and declarations;
  • Adoption of the precautionary principle;
  • Recognition of Stakeholders’ right to be heard and our Organization’s corresponding duty to respond;
  • Recognition of the direct and indirect aspects of social responsibility, taking into account the life cycle of the services and products made available by Grupo 8;
  • Priority given to preventing pollution at the source;
  • Transparent action, information sharing and open behavior;
  • Accountability for the Organization’s actions and any omissions, and reporting on its conduct in light of Stakeholders’ legitimate concerns
  • Integration of social responsibility aspects into the decision-making process;
  • Non-regression, meaning that the provisions of the NP 4469 framework may not be invoked as grounds for reducing the social responsibility performance levels already achieved by Grupo 8..

Social Responsibility

In March 2015, following certification of the Social Responsibility System, we implemented a set of practices and procedures for the continuous improvement of social responsibility processes.

Having assessed the significance of the different parties, we identified direct clients, suppliers, staff and their families as the organization’s stakeholders.

The implementation of social responsibility projects is reflected in our Social Responsibility Report.
